People like his mother, Ginerva King, and Zelda Sayre all had major impacts on Fitzgerald. The women in F. Scott Fitzgerald's life influenced his writing in a number of ways. The first major woman to make and impression on Fitzgerald's life was his mother. Mary (Mollie) McQuillan was of Irish decent. Her parents were Irish immigrants who became rich as grocery owners in St. Paul (Bruccoli 1). Mollie inherited a fair amount of money from her family, but the family had difficulty maintaining the high standard of living they were accustomed to (Bloom 11). When they fell into financial trouble it was her father they turned to. The fact that Fitzgerald's mother, rather than his father, was the financial foundation for their family influenced Fitzgerald greatly. Even as a young boy he was aware of this situation. The theme that arose from this about a wife's inherited money appears frequently in Fitzgerald's writing (Magill 679). When the Fitzgeralds fell into financial trouble, the family had to depend on Mollie's family's money. When times like that came Mollie abandoned the attempt to Tarleton 2 keep up her personal appearance (neglecting both grooming and fashion), which embarrassed her fastidious son. Scott later recorded a dream in which he admitted being ashamed of her (de Koster 15). Furthermore, Fitzgerald's attitude toward his mother influenced him as a person. Hence, trademarked products are often exported from one country to another and sold by unauthorized individuals or firms. This practice is also often known as parallel importing, product diverting, and even arbitrage, and typically flourishes when a product is in short supply, when manufacturers resort to skimming strategies in specific markets. A good example is the trading of crude oil by an individual. The grey market includes services that are typically unregistered to evade taxes. Perfectly legitimate occupations, such as domestic help, babysitters, part time beauticians and freelancers, may not be registered. Not only is it difficult to detect such defaulters, the punishment is usually mild. For example, even as Apple, Inc., rolled out its latest third-generation iPhone on July 11, 2008, several retail stores throughout the world, including those in China and Thailand, continued to take orders even though this product was not being sold in those markets. Their computer codes were unlocked, so that the phones could be used with different mobile service providers. Domestically, 80 % of wine consumption is confined to major cities like Mumbai (39 %), Delhi (23 %), Bangalore (9 %) and Goa (9 %) whereas rest of India has only 20 % consumption. The MIDC report further stated that India currently imports 72,000 wine cases (nine liters to a case) a year. About 32,000 of this are bottled at origin and the other 40,000 cases are imported in bulk flexi bags, which are subsequently bottled by Indian wineries. Besides this, about 12,000-15,000 wine cases are sold through the grey market. In 2009-2010, some seven lakh liters of wine worth Rs. 5.92 crore was exported to France, Italy, Germany, US, UK, Singapore and Belgium from Maharashtra. The state had announced its `Maharashtra Grape Processing Industrial Policy 2001 on September 19, 2001 with wine as an important part of it. According to a report by MIDC, four components are required to make good wine. Those are soil, climate, vines and human factor that is the people who brew wine. No matter how great a company is, employee dissatisfaction always tends to occur at the workplace. Employee dissatisfaction at a company can be caused by multiple things such as not agreeing with the decisions upper management makes or dissatisfaction from your performance review. As the case states when such a behavior occurs at the work place people will more often than not take their negative emotions to social media. This can significantly impact the problem because it causes a negative work place and thus causes the employees to talk negatively on social media. This is what companies are trying to prevent because they do not have a negative reputation. The first scenario in the case we saw is that employees had to pay more in taxes because of an accounting error. This is showing employee dissatisfaction with the upper management at the individual level. The second potential cause of this problem can occur at group/team level. Building off my last paragraph, employee dissatisfaction can also lead counterproductive behavior at the group level. One key factor of making sure that all group members are satisfied is communication since stressful work environments can negatively impact job performances. But since the bar lacked communication at an organizational level, their reputation was harmed. Step 3: Make Recommendations An organization can take multiple different approaches on how to tackle this problem in the work place. We have learned through the first half of the class that the attitudes and emotions are more flexible than other features such a personality and intelligence. In this case the owners of the bar should understand their employees better than anyone else. Triple Play Sport Bar lost the case essentially because their policy was too vague. If they are able to provide their employees with better training and understanding of the company policies, I truly believe they could have avoided this case. As the owners (managers) they should be able to influence certain differences in their employees. Employees would be better able to handle what they post on social media regarding their employers if they had a better understanding of what the rules were. The biggest key to success for a company here is communication as referred to in the case study as well. If a company has an effective line of communication, then most their employees will be satisfied. The owner of the bars could have done a lot to prevent their employees from being angry, they should have definitely communicated the error to all their employees soon as they found out about the accounting error. An open communication also helps employees feel more valued in their company since they feel like they are a part of it. In conclusion, I think employees have the right to post whatever they feel like on social media at their own risk. These suggested recommendations wont change every employees perspective on what to post on social media and what not to but it would definitely trend positively in the workforce. Companies cant control their employees but they can try educate their employees on their policies so these problems dont continue to escalate. At the end of the day if the company does not have any clear polices, an employee can post whatever they want on social media without any consequences because every employee is protected by the National Labors Relations Act.
